In addition to the popular North Grove, the Park features the primitive South Grove, a five mile hiking trip through a spectacular grove of giant sequoias in their natural setting. Other attractions in the Park include the Stanislaus River, Beaver Creek, and the Lava Bluff trails. The Park also houses two main campgrounds with a total of 129 campsites, six picnic areas and hundreds of miles of established trails. The Park is open year-round, sunrise to sunset. Activities include cross-country skiing, evening ranger talks, numerous interpretive programs, environmental education programs, junior ranger programs, hiking, mountain biking and bird watching.

info@deathride.comRecognized throughout the cycling world as one of the best produced events in the West, the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce and the Alta Alpine Cycle Club invite you to participate in the Annual "Death Ride," while enjoying the magnificent scenery, and warm hospitality of Alpine County! Beginning and ending at Turtle Rock Park north of Markleeville, California, the five pass ride includes 129 miles and 15,000 feet of lung busting climbing. You also have the option of riding one, two, three or four passes. Five pass finishers will receive a five-pass pin and be eligible to purchase an exclusive five-pass finisher jersey.

Come to these majestic mountains and relax by the crystal clear waters of Lake Alpine in the high Sierras. Fish for Rainbow Trout or hike through a pristine Alpine Meadow. Leave the stress and heat of the city behind and journey up to the shores of peaceful Lake Alpine in the Stanislaus National Forest. At 7400 feet, the air is clean and the number of stars at night appears infinite. Overnight camping and picnic table are available around Lake Alpine. A 10 MPH speed limit is enforced on the lake for power boats to help promote serenity for people and animals alike. No life guards are on duty so swimming safety it up to you.

MAS specializes in rock climbing, mountaineering, telemark skiing and avalanche education, including backcountry skiing, snowboarding & snowshoeing, plus wilderness medicine and team building.
Spicer Reservoir is located eight miles southwest of Highway 4 on Spicer Reservoir Road at an elevation of 6,200. It has a surface area of 2,000 acres when full. Maximum speed on the lower portion of the lake is 10 mph; the upper portion, surrounded by the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness, is managed for non-motorized uses only. A Wilderness Permit is required for shoreline camping in the eastern (non-motorized) portion of the lake. Open June to October. Spicer Reservoir visitors enjoy camping, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. There is a total of 60 campsites, with a group site that can hold 75 people.
These scenic small, twin reservoirs are located off the Spicer Reservoir Road. The setting is more rustic than either Spicer Reservoir or Lake Alpine. No developed recreation facilities exist at either lake; however, the area is popular for day use, dispersed camping and paddle sports such as canoeing and "sea" kayaking. A primitive boat launch is available at Union Reservoir. Maximum boat speed is 5 mph. Utica Reservoir is managed for non-motorized boating. Open June to October.
